    In short

    • The Oceanogràfic is open every day of the year, but the hours change from day to day. From November 2026 to January 2027 it opens at 10:00 and closes at 18:00 on most days, with longer hours on some weekends and shorter days around Christmas. The ticket office closes one hour before closing.
    • It is one of the largest aquariums in Europe, with more than 27,000 animals of 750 species, with roofs designed by the architect Félix Candela. Your ticket also includes the Ágora del Mar, where the dolphin presentations take place.
    • Flash, selfie sticks and food from outside are not allowed. Children under 12 must be with a responsible adult, and pets are not admitted. The buildings have ramps and lifts, so wheelchairs and strollers are fine.
    • Short on time? Choose the entry ticket. Spending the day in the City of Arts and Sciences? Take a combined ticket with the Science Museum, the Hemisfèric, or both.

The Oceans: a tunnel under the Atlantic

The underwater tunnel at L'Oceanogràfic with shoals of fish swimming around and above

In the Oceans area a tunnel 35 metres long runs through the Atlantic, from the Canary Islands to Bermuda, with sharks and rays passing around and above you. The tank holds 6,000 cubic metres of water.

    The Arctic and the Antarctic

Penguins standing together on an icy rock ledge at L'Oceanogràfic

The Arctic area is a giant igloo, 12 metres high, on two levels. The Antarctic area is dedicated to penguins.

    The Mediterranean and the jellyfish

A curved tank full of jellyfish lit in deep blue at L'Oceanogràfic

The Mediterranean area is a walk of growing depth, from the seagrass meadows to the dark deep waters, with cold-water corals and red coral. The jellyfish have their own large exhibition, and you meet them again in tanks all over the aquarium.

    The Ágora del Mar

Two dolphins leaping out of the water together in the dolphin pool at L'Oceanogràfic

This is the dolphin area, and the presentations are included in your entry ticket. The programme changes every day, so look at the times when you arrive and get there half an hour early to find a seat.
